IELTS Speaking Part 2 cue card timer
Practise the long turn: read the cue card, take one minute to make notes, then speak for up to two minutes. Try to keep talking until the timer ends.
Describe a skill you learned outside school.
You should say:
- what the skill is
- how you learned it
- how long it took
- and explain how it has helped you.
Questions
- What happens if I stop before two minutes?
- The examiner may prompt you to say more. Speaking for close to the full two minutes shows fluency and gives more evidence for your band.
- Can I take notes in the real test?
- Yes. You are given paper and a pencil to make notes during the one minute of preparation.
